
A tragic incident has unfolded at a ceramics company in Igbesa, Ogun State, where Police Inspector Ajele Oloyede, part of the security detail, reportedly died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The incident, which occurred on Thursday, has prompted an investigation by the Ogun State Police.
Details of the event were provided by the state police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola. According to her, the discovery was made by an officer from Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos, named Tolorunloju Stephen, who had returned from Ikeja at approximately 1:20 p.m
Upon entering the security office, Stephen found Inspector Oloyede resting his head on a table. When Stephen inquired about his well-being, Oloyede reportedly responded that he was fine
Subsequently, Stephen placed his bag and pistol on the table and briefly stepped into the restroom. It was during this short interval that a gunshot was heard emanating from the office.
Upon returning, Stephen discovered Oloyede lying in a pool of blood. The severity of the situation became immediately apparent, leading to urgent action.
With the assistance of private security personnel present at the ceramics company, the wounded officer was swiftly transported to Ota General Hospital. Despite immediate medical attention, the doctor on duty pronounced Oloyede dead.
Police officers subsequently arrived at the scene to conduct an initial investigation. The deceased’s pistol was recovered as evidence, and his body was deposited at Ota General Hospital for an autopsy.
The process of notifying Oloyede’s family has commenced, ensuring they are informed of the tragic circumstances. Furthermore, the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran for a more thorough investigation.
