The Nigeria Police Force has reported significant successes in its ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and enhance national security
In a series of recent operations across the country, law enforcement personnel neutralized seven terrorists and recovered a substantial cache of weapons, including 23 firearms and a large quantity of ammunition. These actions underscore the Force’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the security and well-being of Nigerian citizens
One notable operation occurred on February 14, 2025, in Kebbi State, where armed men invaded Gobiraje Village and kidnapped a 60-year-old man. Swiftly responding, police operatives tracked the suspects to Tundafari Forest, where a fierce gun battle ensued. Four kidnappers were killed, one was apprehended with fatal injuries, and the victim was rescued unharmed. Furthermore, the police successfully recovered the N3 million ransom that had already been paid to the criminals.
In a separate incident on February 8, 2025, police in Imo State, working alongside other security agencies, conducted a raid on an IPOB/ESN terrorist camp. During this operation, two key figures within the terrorist group were neutralized. The raid also yielded a significant haul of weapons, including seven AK-47 rifles, 13 pump-action guns, and hundreds of rounds of live ammunition, significantly disrupting the group’s operational capabilities.

Following up on this success, on February 9, 2025, operatives targeted another terrorist hideout in Imo State. In Nkwukwo Forest, near the boundary with Ubachima Forest, police encountered a group of terrorists who immediately opened fire. The ensuing exchange resulted in the neutralization of three more terrorist kingpins. Authorities recovered two AK-47 rifles, each loaded with ammunition, a pump-action gun, a cutlass, four motorcycles, and assorted criminal charms.
These successful operations demonstrate the dedication and bravery of the police operatives involved. The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has expressed his commendation for their efforts, highlighting the Force’s resolve to combat crime and ensure the safety of all Nigerians. The operations not only serve as a deterrent to criminal activity but also reaffirm the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to upholding law and order throughout the nation.
