In a significant operation conducted by the Lagos State Police Command, authorities successfully dismantled an illicit baby factory operating within the Ijegun vicinity of the state.

This decisive action led to the liberation of ten individuals who were being held against their will within the confines of the illegal establishment. Furthermore, the swift and coordinated response by law enforcement resulted in the apprehension of three individuals suspected of orchestrating and managing this reprehensible operation.
Tip-Off and Rapid Police Response
The exposure of this clandestine activity stemmed from crucial intelligence received by the police command on the preceding Saturday. Acting promptly upon this vital information, dedicated officers were immediately dispatched to the specified location. Their swift arrival and tactical intervention culminated in the successful apprehension of the primary suspect, identified as 35-year-old Mariam Vincent. Additionally, two other individuals, namely 23-year-old Orie Ruth and 18-year-old Ujunwa Ifeanyi, were also taken into custody during the operation, underscoring the collaborative nature of the illicit enterprise.

Among those liberated were three young children, aged seven, five, and two, whose tender years made them particularly susceptible to the exploitative nature of the operation. In total, the rescue efforts extended to seven adult women, highlighting the scale and severity of the illegal activity being perpetrated.

The identities of the adult women who were rescued from the baby factory have been disclosed as Precious, aged 24; Magdalene, aged 25; Adaobi, aged 23; Princess, aged 22; Ifeanyi, aged 25; and Amaka, aged 26. Preliminary investigations and subsequent questioning of the apprehended suspects have yielded significant admissions. According to the spokesperson for the command, Benjamin Hundeyin, the suspects confessed to the heinous act of kidnapping the victims from various locations across the state for the express purpose of operating the baby factory. This admission underscores the calculated and predatory nature of their criminal enterprise. Hundeyin further emphasized that the investigation remains active and ongoing, with the assurance that the suspects will face the full weight of the law in a court of competent jurisdiction.
Broader Law Enforcement Efforts and Arrests
Providing a comprehensive overview of the police command’s activities over the preceding two weeks, Hundeyin highlighted the successful apprehension of a total of 39 suspects involved in a spectrum of serious criminal activities. These offenses included murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, rape, child stealing, vandalism, the illegal operation of a baby factory, unlawful possession of firearms, and the trafficking of illicit drugs. This significant number of arrests underscores the unwavering commitment of the Lagos State Police Command to combating crime in its various forms.
Successful Rescue of Kidnapped Victims in Ikorodu
In a separate but equally significant law enforcement operation, police officers successfully rescued two individuals who had been kidnapped in the Igbe Alagemo area of Ijede, Ikorodu. The victims were abducted following an attack on the community by armed kidnappers during the night of March 26, 2025. The swift and coordinated response by the police, in collaboration with local teams and other security forces, led to the safe rescue of the abducted individuals on March 29.
Details of the Kidnapping Incident
Narrating the details of the kidnapping incident, Hundeyin explained that the armed assailants invaded the quiet community at approximately 9 p.m. on the night of the attack. Their initial target was the residence of a 40-year-old man identified as Dare. In a display of violence, the kidnappers fatally shot his security dog before forcibly abducting him. Continuing their criminal spree, the perpetrators proceeded to a nearby house where they seized a second victim, 25-year-old Rodiat, under similarly violent and coercive circumstances.
Resolution and Ongoing Surveillance
Following the distress call received on the night of the attack, a dedicated team of police officers and other security personnel worked tirelessly for three consecutive days. Their relentless efforts culminated in the successful rescue of both victims at approximately 11:56 p.m. on March 29. Hundeyin confirmed that the rescued individuals were immediately reunited with their relieved families. He further assured the public that the area is now relatively calm, while emphasizing that active surveillance is ongoing and a comprehensive investigation is underway to identify and apprehend all individuals involved in this heinous crime.
