
Nollywood has lost one of its own, as actor Columbus Irisonaga has passed away. Irisonaga was a familiar face in the Nigerian film industry, contributing his talents to numerous productions throughout his life.

Beyond his acting career, Irisonaga was also a respected academic. He served as a senior lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt, where he shared his knowledge and passion for theatre arts with students in the department.
Irisonaga is perhaps best known for his portrayal of the chief priest “Igbudu” in the popular 2001 movie “Isakaba.” This role cemented his place in Nollywood history and remains a memorable performance for many fans.

Despite his academic commitments, Irisonaga continued to grace the screens in Nollywood movies until his death. His dedication to both his craft and his students leaves behind a legacy that will be remembered by nigerians.
This will make it the second Nollywood star lost since the beginning of 2025.
