Israel has successfully launched its most advanced communications satellite, Dror-1, into space from Cape Canaveral. The satellite, built by Israel Aerospace Industries, was carried into orbit aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 two-stage rocket.
The launch saw the Falcon 9’s first-stage booster, remarkably on its 13th mission, successfully land back on an offshore platform. Currently, the second stage of the rocket is propelling the Dror-1 satellite further into space. Soon, the payload fairing will deploy, allowing the satellite to begin its final deployment sequence.

Following the fairing’s separation, Dror-1 will unfurl its solar panels and communication dishes. Over the next two weeks, after completing several orbits around Earth, the satellite will maneuver itself into its designated permanent operational position.
