Fregene Emiko Emmanuel, a 21-year-old who recently achieved an impressive score of 323 in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), has shared his reasons for selecting Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, as his top choice for Medicine and Surgery.
His decision stems from the institution’s strong reputation for the medical program, coupled with its convenient proximity.

In an exclusive telephone interview with Fresh Angle International on Monday, July 14, the aspiring medical practitioner revealed that his deep-seated passion for saving lives and bringing hope to the sick significantly influenced his desire to study medicine. Emiko, a great-grandson of Agbateyiniro and a native of Warri South Local Government Area, emphasized his dedication, stating, “I had worked as a nurse in training just to make sure I did not deviate from my dream career choice.”
Fregene, who hails from Warri and completed his secondary education at Erejuwa II Grammar School, Ode-Itsekiri, in 2024, achieved commendable grades in his SSCE: Marketing B3, Economics B3, Civic Education C5, English Language C4, General Mathematics A1, Agricultural Science A1, Biology B3, Chemistry B3, and Physics B2. He remains optimistic about successfully passing DELSU’s post-UTME examination. When asked if he was seeking any form of scholarship or financial assistance for his academic pursuits, he affirmed, “Yes I am, sir.”
