Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, expressed his optimism about the possibility of former Governor James Ibori joining the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Governor Oborevwori made these remarks during a vigil mass held in honor of the late former Deputy Governor of the state, Professor Amos Utuama, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Otu-Jeremi, Ughelli South Local Government Area, on Tuesday. He emphasized the importance of unity within the Urhobo political class.
Governor Oborevwori paid tribute to the late Professor Amos Utuama, highlighting his selfless contributions. “I am very happy to be here today, witnessing such a large gathering for one man. Today’s sermon isn’t about the deceased, but about the living,” he said.
“There are many things he did while he was alive. I will mention just a few key ones. He donated the land allocated to him in Asaba, during his time as Deputy Governor, to the Catholic Church, and also contributed to the church’s construction. In my view, that is an investment in the kingdom,” he added. Governor Oborevwori expressed his hope that Professor Utuama’s passing would foster peace and unity in Ughelli South and throughout the Urhobo nation.
He further extolled Professor Utuama’s virtues, stating that he lived a purposeful life: “He lived well and died well.”
In his homily, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Warri, Most Rev. Anthony Ewherido, affirmed that the late Professor Amos Utuama led a life of significant impact, both within the Church and in society.
Bishop Ewherido offered his condolences to the family and urged them to uphold Professor Utuama’s legacy of godliness, humility, charity, and selflessness. He described the death of a Christian as a transition to eternal glory and reminded everyone of the importance of accepting Christ during their lifetime in order to experience eternal life after physical death.
The Bishop also called for continued unity among the political class, for the sake of peace and development in Delta State.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Mr. Ovie Utuama, a son of the deceased, expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of support and requested continued prayers during that difficult time.
