
In an effort to enhance agricultural development and attract international investment, a high-level delegation from Delta State, Nigeria, has visited one of Brazil’s most prominent and innovative ranches. The visit, initiated by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, is part of his administration’s commitment to diversifying the economy, strengthening food security, and creating sustainable employment opportunities for the people of Delta State.
During the working tour in Brazil, the delegation engaged with the ranch’s management, inspected its state-of-the-art facilities, and held productive discussions on potential areas for collaboration. Key areas of focus included modern cattle breeding techniques, advanced livestock management, pasture development, dairy production, and various aspects of agro-processing.

Speaking at the ranch, Dr. Barry Pere Gbe, the Leader of the Delegation and Chief Economic Adviser to the Governor, affirmed that Delta State is dedicated to transforming its agricultural sector through strategic partnerships and the adoption of global best practices. “Brazil is renowned for its advancements in livestock and ranching, and we believe that collaboration in this sector will bring immense benefits to our people,” Dr. Gbe stated. He added that the Oborevwori administration’s primary goal is to replicate successful models from Brazil, build local expertise, and attract direct investments into Delta State.

Other members of the delegation—including the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Ada Val Arenyeka; the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads and Public Information), Charles Aniagwu; the Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Samuel Oligida; the Director General of the Delta State Investment Development Agency, Hon. Anthony Elekeokwuri; and the Special Adviser on Investments, Barrister George Orogun—all reaffirmed the Governor’s commitment to job creation through economic diversification.

The Brazilian hosts, led by Mr. Gustavo Monaco, expressed great optimism about a potential partnership with Delta State, highlighting Nigeria’s large market and Delta’s fertile environment as significant advantages.
