this statement was made during a reception for the Executive Committee of the Ambrose Alli University (AAU) Alumni Association Worldwide at Government House, Asaba, where he also received the Alumni Hero’s and Excellence Awards.

“I am deeply honored to receive the Hero award and the Award of Excellence. I am truly grateful,” Governor Oborevwori stated. “I hold Ambrose Alli University in high regard. During the political season, there were accusations that I did not attend school, a common tactic in politics.”
He emphasized his full-time study at AAU, highlighting his strong connection to his local community and his belief in Nigeria and Delta State. “I graduated with a 2:1 after my Bachelor’s degree. I was a quiet student, and my classmates from Ekpoma continue to support me,” he added.

Furthermore, he mentioned completing his Master’s degree full-time at Delta State University, Abraka, as a pioneer student. “The University stood by me throughout the court case, surprising even the opposing lawyers. I still have my matriculation number,” he said. “So, when people speak, I simply laugh. I remember the days in Ekpoma when we struggled to find water before class. Those experiences shaped me, and I believe anyone who passes through Ekpoma will succeed in life.”
He expressed pride in being a graduate of AAU and the first governor from the university. He also pledged a personal donation to support the association’s ongoing construction project at the university and reiterated his gratitude for their visit.
Dr. Clifford Omozeghian, the Worldwide President of the Ambrose Alli University Alumni Association, informed the governor that their visit was to express their support for him and his administration. He noted that alumni were excelling in various fields, demonstrating the association’s vitality and that the Governor’s political success was a testament to that.
“The university currently needs infrastructure, and we have decided to contribute by building a Computerized Examination and Records Building to expedite the processing of results, certificates, and transcripts,” Dr. Omozeghian stated. “This project is estimated at N500,000,000 (five hundred million naira). We have already begun construction and are at the window stage.”
He appealed to the governor for support to complete the project, suggesting it be named the ‘Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori Exams and Records Building’ to honor him.
Dr. Omozeghian highlighted Governor Oborevwori’s status as the first Executive Governor from the Ambrose Alli University Alumni Association and affirmed that the association would continue to celebrate his achievement. He then presented him with the Ambrose Alli University Alumni Association Hero’s Award and the Award of Excellence.
