Eyewitnesses at the scene recounted the harrowing moments. Besides the mechanic, the overturned trailer also crushed three tricycles and their passengers, adding to the casualty count. Emergency responders quickly arrived, recovering six bodies and transporting the injured to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
The fatal crash brought traffic to a standstill on the always-busy Udu Bridge, causing a significant gridlock that left motorists and tricycle operators stranded for hours. The disruption severely affected commuters, including workers, students, and traders heading into Warri and surrounding areas, forcing many to find alternative routes on foot.
While the exact death toll is still unconfirmed, six bodies have been recovered from the scene. Olorogun Vincent Oyibode, the Chairman of Udu Local Government Area, was reportedly on-site, having mobilized rescue workers to assist with the aftermath. As of now, there has been no official statement from either the Police or the Federal Road Safety Corps in Delta State regarding the incident.
